Ok. I’m here. My son told me about this forum, and actually came over to show it to me, and help me get signed up.
John wanted me to join this forum because I lost my very best friend, and just can’t seem to “get a grip” on life again. Jayne and I had been friends since elementary school – that’s almost 62 years. We did everything together as kids, and called each other once a day throughout our adult years. She was my maid of honor at my wedding, and godmother to my two sons. I miss her so much. I’ll never find a friend like her again. That it for now. |

I’m with you! There was a friend like that for me, too – and losing that anchor in my life was (is) hard. I’m glad we’ve found each other. Can I ask if Jayne had any children? If so, are you close to them?

Jayne never got married, and had no children. I think it would have been easier if she had – I’d at least have her kids to talk to!

I agree with you. My best friend, Catherine, had three girls, and I’ve found great comfort in having them to talk to. I think they get the same comfort from me – after all, I’m “Aunt” Mamie (short for Martha).

I am sorry for your loss. It seems to me that you have lost half of your being. I agree, it may take another lifetime to find a best friend like Jayne.

And losing a dear friend can leave a very big "hole" in your heart. Sometimes you think you're doing fine, and then....the hurt comes back even larger than before.
The hardest thing is that you get afraid to make new friends. No one can live up to the friendship you had, and always in the back of your mind...you're thinking... "What if I lose THIS friend?" You'll know when you're ready. In the meantime, stay with us. We're all sending you love and support. |

I feel very sad for your friend. I think Jayne was your best friend and you told your problems to her. I know lost of good friend is very painful and best friends are difficult to find. I also lost my best friend last year. I pray to God for rest their soul in heaven.
